BIRD-WATCHING IN ANDAMAN & NICOBAR ISLANDS
The best part to visit Andaman and Nicobar Islands isthat it has an about 80% of its area in Tropical Evergreen forest which favor the flora and fauna to flourish. We here offercustomized birding tours of 5 days in South Andaman, 10 days to Little Andaman (Hut Bay), upto18 daysat Great Nicobar Islands. The tours are designed to take you on a focused birdingexcursion across Andaman & Nicobar Islands including the Great Nicobar Island & Little Andaman. In two and half week expedition, we ensure to come close to 250 – 300 species, including most of them to be endemicsto Andaman Islands. Tour Itenary for Andaman & Nicobar Island
South Andaman (Port Blair - Capital) :
- Special attraction found in South Andaman are Andaman Teal , Andaman Wood Pigeon , Andaman Creek, owls and other endemic species .
- It requires at least 5 nights to explore these species South Andaman
- As Port Blair is the capital of A & N island there is not restriction for Indian and foreign tourists.
Little Andaman Island (Hut Bay) :
- It takes 8 hours by sea and half hour by air. Except Sunday &Govt Holidays helicopter (Pawanhans) services are available for Little Andaman Islands and ship servicesare available everyday depending on weather conditions.
- Plan for atleast04 days to Little Andaman Islands to cover all endemic birds.
- Indians &Foreigner are permitted.
- Special attraction is the Nicobar Pigeon and other endemic species.
- Private and Govt. accommodations(medium / standard)are available at Little Andaman.
Great Nicobar Island :
- Special attraction Megapode bird and other endemic birds can be watched at Great Nicobar Islands.
- Two days Journey can be performed by sea and 3 hours by air. Helicopter(Pawanhans)/ Donier (Defence flight) servicesavailable to Great Nicobar Islands Except on Sundays& Govt. Holidays. Ship services availableonce in a week are dependingon weather conditions.
- Plan atleast 16-18 days trip to Great Nicobar Islands by ship for bird-watching and 07 days by Air.Donier Plane are available on every Monday and Friday.The ship is available once in a week.
- Only Indian Citizens are permitted.
- Only Govt. accommodation is available at Great Nicobar Islands.
North and Middle Andaman :
- It takes 10 hours to reach Diglipur (North Andaman) via reserve forest and tribal area.
- It takes 8 hours to reach Mayabunder (North & Middle) Andaman via reserve forest and tribal area.
- It takes 6 hours to reach Rangat (Middle Andaman) via reserve forest and tribal area.
- Planfor atleast 04to 05 days trip to North and Middle Andaman.
- Indians & Foreigners are permitted.
- Common endemic species of South Andaman can be explored.
- Private and Govt. accommodations (medium/standard) are available inNorth and Middle Andaman.
Narcondam Island :
- Special attraction “Norcondam Bird”. It is a restricted area, under police protection and special permissionis required for the visiting here from MHA (Ministry of Home Affairs, GOI).
- It takes 2 nights and 3 days journey to Norcondam Island by sea.The best time to visit is from March to May under normal weather conditions.
- Only Indian Bird- are permitted in these island and can the best means to reach there is by hiring a private speed boat ( 6 seater )

Birding Targets Across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands
Basic Information
VISA – All foreigners in India must obtain a visa before arrival. In addition to Port Blair ( Andaman& Nicobar Islands) one will need to fill in a few forms on arrival . No separate entry permit is required prior to arrival.
In general the weather will be warm and pleasant – hot during the day and pleasant during nights.
Temperature pattern – The Andaman being in the tropical region, has a steady temperature throughout the year. Humidity 90% to 100% throughout the year.
Rainfall – The monsoon monthsstart from May to October with June & July being the peak rainy months. Unpredictable rain expected due to retreating monsoon during November & December.
- Dress – Preferably Cotton is recommended.
Accommodation – All accommodations during the tour arefrom medium to luxury hotels as per the choice of guest and mealplan depend on requirement of guests.
